Q1. What kind of teaching philosophy do you follow?
Teaching Philosophy is the one of the most common teachers interview questions that you can expect to face at almost every interview. So, preparing an answer, and preferably writing it down and memorizing it will be helpful.
When you are asked about your teaching philosophy, you should provide a summary of yourself as a teacher- your values, your beliefs, and your goals.
An answer about teaching philosophy should include why you are a teacher, how do you teach your students, how do you approach problems and solve them, how you interact with students and their parents, everything, but in a brief and concise manner.
“I believe every student is individual, and they learn differently and in a different pace. So I pay individual attention to every student and try to help in their overall development. With the help of these aids, student learn their lessons much faster, and the audio-visuals are a lot more helpful in making the kids memorize the lessons, as opposed to traditional pen and paper mode.

I think my biggest strengths as a teacher are my communication skills and patience. I try to communicate with every student in the class individually, and adopt an approachable personality, so that when they face a problem, they don’t hesitate to seek help from me. I also possess patience and calmness that helps me become a good teacher.

I have many weaknesses and I am trying to rectify them as much as I can. However, I think my biggest weakness is I am not very good at disciplining students. Educationalists and Socio-Psychologists confirm that positive reinforcements are the best way to discipline learners. Any kind of harsh punishment, insults or abuses can damage their psyche and do more harm than good. So, a teacher should always follow this rule while disciplining her students.
I believe verbal admonishments or corporal punishments are not at all right approach to teaching. When students learn to recognize and accept their mistakes, they rectify it way better. So I set up some basic rules and make the students aware of the consequences if they break them. I also try to communicate with parents about their kids when situations could not be controlled inside the classrooms.
Q8. How do you interact with parents?
Regular communications and discussion sessions help me communicate with parents better. As a teacher it is my primary duty to keep the parents informed about their children’s progress and development. So I organize parent-teacher meetings on regular intervals, both in groups and individually.
Q9. How will you manage an extremely undisciplined student in your class?
I try to engage them in different types of productive activities so that they are distracted from making a nuisance in the classroom. However, if all my efforts fail, I talk to the school principal and the student’s guardians about the matter and try to find a way to solve the problem in a way that provides the student with a positive lesson.
Q10. How do you help under-performing students?
I pay attention to every student individually. That’s why, I am acquainted with them well enough to identify when a student is not performing to his/ her full potential. I first try to detect the reason of their under-performance by reviewing their work/ discussing it with the students and/ or their parents. Once we know the reason, it becomes easier to work towards them and help the student overcome the difficulties.
